Keraliya Ayurvedic Abhyanga: Contemporary methods……
Kerala is a popular state in
southern India, where panchakarma abhyanga has been preserved. However, unlike
panchakarma, it is more used more for rejuvenation purposes than for
cleansing. Various contemporary forms of abhyanga are used in Kerala and are
very effective. Some modern authorities note that some of these practices are
especially useful in healing serious mental disorders. However, other modern
authorities believe they aggravate the conditions. Practitioners have noted
that procedures such as Shirodhara have evoked troubling past emotions in some
persons. Therefore, persons who have very deep emotional problems may be advised
by some practitioners to heal through herbs, aromas, and professional counseling
first. The experts say that the
keraliya therapy of panchakarma has very effective results though it differs
from ancient rules as follows-
1. As per ancient rules, panch karma must be done only during certain seasons but in Kerala rules, it can be done in all seasons
2. In ancient rules doing panchakarma oil and sweat are preliminary therapies whereas in Kerala oil and sweat are taken as principle therapies.
3. Ancient panchakarma treats the constitution but in Kerala rules it treats illness.
4. The panchakarma is purification oriented in ancient rules but as per Kerala rules, panchakarma is toning oriented.
5. Only five therapies have been recommended for panchakarma as per ancient rules but in Kerala, more than five therapies are in practice.
6. As per ancient rules, panchakarma can not be performed in too hot or cold; or when cloudy (or rainy) but in Kerala, it is done effectively in rainy seasons.
Keraliya panchakarma and their categories: Even though there are numerous treatments in keraliya panchakarma, they all fit into five major categories-
1. Dhara karma (Shiro-Dhara Or Avgahan Parisheka): It includes disease of the mind, Prana Vayu, CNS, ears, eyes, nose, and throat; facial palsy, insomnia, nervous disorders, memory, psychosis, fainting, confusion, excess perspiration, alcoholism, coma, etc.
2. Kaya Seka (Pizhichil): It promotes tissue strength, biological fire, luster, complexion, Ojas, clear senses, Vayu disorders, muscle spasms, degenerative muscle disorders, etc.
3. Pinda Sweda: It heals neuromuscular (facial paralysis, MS, muscular atrophy) and some systematic diseases.
4. Anna lepa (Medicated grains): This therapy is used as an alternative method and applied when the Pinda Sweda does not work.
5. Shiro lepa: It is used to treat mental and brain disorders.
Both dhara and lepa are
palliative measures that eliminate excessed doshas. They remove stagnant,
sticky toxins from the body’s channel (srotas) without applying traditional
reducing methods (shodhana). Both can be given at all times and in all seasons.

The Burans plant (Rhododendron arboreum) can help us fight the corona virus…..
Corona cases are increasing rapidly in India. In such a situation, wearing a mask, maintaining social distance, and getting a vaccine is being considered the only way to avoid infection, but very soon a medicine of corona may come, which will be no less than a lifesaving herb for corona patients.
Yes. I am talking about the wonderful research from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi and the International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) that has found a cure for corona in a plant found in the Himalayan hills.
According to scientists, the burans plant (Rhododendron arboretum) can help us fight the coronavirus. A substance called phytochemicals present in the petals of its flowers prevents the corona from multiplying. This chemical has some such anti-viral properties, due to which the virus cannot survive in front of them. Let us tell you that the plant of Burans is mostly found in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Kashmir. Local people have already been using the juice of its petals to keep their health good.
About the plant: The botanical name of the burans plant is Rhododendron arboretum and Rhododendron (English); Burans (Hindi); Kurvak (Sanskrit). This plant belongs to the family Ericaceae. Burans plant is found at an altitude of 1500 - 3600 meters above sea level. It is the state tree of Uttarakhand and it is highly recognized in the local community there. Red flowers bloom on it in the months of March-April.
The flowers of Burans are also commonly known as Brass, Buras, or Barah flowers. Apart from India, it is also found in Pakistan, China, Nepal, Thailand, and Sri Lanka. People considered its presence in Sri Lanka with Hanuman Ji taking the mountain of Sanjeevani Booti from the Himalayas in the Ramayana.
How does this plant prevent the spread of corona infection in the body? The expert from the International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology says that the phytochemicals of Buransh act in two ways in the body. First, they bind to an enzyme found in the corona, which helps the virus to duplicate itself. Apart from this, they also bind with the ACE-2 enzyme found in our body. The virus enters our body only through the ACE-2 enzyme.
According to scientists, due to this joining process of phytochemical, the coronavirus is not able to infect the cells of our body and the risk of infection is averted. Another Expert from Mandi IIT says that he believes that the treatment of corona will be possible with the burans plant. His team is looking for a cure for corona in other medicinal plants found in the Himalayas.
Burans’s petals and other health benefits: The syrup made from the flowers of Buransh is considered extremely beneficial for heart patients. These petals are used to relieve cold, muscle pain, headache, and fever. Local people use it to make squash and jam. Also, its chutney is still preferred in rural areas.

Beware of adulterated tea......
Camellia sinensis, a shrubs belongs to family Theaceae. Tea production, cultivation of the tea plant, usually done in large commercial operations. This is an evergreen plant is valued for its young leaves and leaf buds, from which the tea beverage is produced.
Tea becomes the need of all family members in all over world. Bed tea is a term that is used to start the day for majority of people and tea lovers. Tea is started with political ground, a meeting or even a family function is not completed. Chai- Samosa or Namkeen and tea is the part of the family discussion. Many important decisions are being made during the time of tea.
Tea is not a beverage only to drink but also people use it to make their mood fresh, even it is being used for treatment of headache, preparing mood for dealing critical file issues etc...
Many poet had given its stylish name such as lajvanti or nirlajja tea; charitravan tea or Charitraheen tea. Let me clear about its name given by Indian poets. The Charitravan tea is served in a special earthen pot or vessel, made from soil and called' Kullahad' that is being used once whereas the charitraheen tea is served in stainless steel vessel or in Chinese cup and that cup is utilised several time to serving tea for many people and thus it is called ' charitraheen tea'. So, its very funny. Yes. Its true in fun also tea is a part of modern life as well as ancient life. No one can deny. Many people told that if they not take tea in a specific time, they feel severe headache and it seems that they loss something. Now, we may see the importance of tea in our routine life.
But how you feel, if you have suddenly heard that the tea is severely adulterated. Yes. Adulteration is now become a part of the business that no way bother to the people health. Nowadays, frequently adulterated tea available in the market in beautiful and attractive packings and also gives good aroma just opening the cover. But do you know all beautifully packed tea is not healthy and being adulterated by adding artificial colur and dye.
There is some tips for easy identification of original and adulterated tea.....
1. Take a small amount of tea powder or granules, put on tissue papers just sprinkle litte water on it. Observe after two minutes, and then remove the tea powder from tissue paper and see the results. If tissue paper had got very dark yellow or brown stains means tea is adulterated. If stain is just very light or pale yellow means the tea is original.
2. Take a transparent tumbler and fill with water. Add few grains of tea in it and observe. As soon as the grains start releasing color even in normal water means it is adulterated by adding some color to make attractive and thick colored tea. Such tea should be avoided as it harms to the internal organs of our body. Original tea grains will not start realising color immediately in touch of water but take 20 to 30 seconds and that also light color in compare to adulterated one. It gives color on only a certain boiling temperature.
