Momordica dioica (Spiny Gourd); family - Cucurbitaceae)- A healthy monsoon vegetable with plenty of nutritional value.

Momordica dioica is a perennial, dioecious, cucurbitaceous climbing creeper (commonly known as kakrol, spiny gourd, or teasle gourd). It is native to Asia with extensive distribution in India and Bangladesh. Momordica dioica as the average nutritional value per 100 g edible fruit was found to contain approx. 84.1% moisture, 7.7 g carbohydrate, 3.1 g protein, 3.1 g fat, 3.0 g fiber, and 1.1 g minerals. It also contained small quantities of essential vitamins like ascorbic acid, carotene, thiamin, riboflavin, and niacin. It also contains protein in the leaves and the dry weight of aerial plant parts remained higher in males as compared to female defruited, and monoecious plants. Various parts of Momordica dioica are used as traditional herbal remedies for diabetes mellitusIt is considered the most powerful vegetable in the world.

It is also used as a medicine in Ayurveda. This vegetable is not only tasty but also full of nutrition. It has so much power that makes the body healthy with just a few days of consumption. The spiny gourd is also known as “Kaksa or Golkandra”.  Spiny gourd usually fruiting in the monsoon month. In view of its many health benefits, cultivation has been started in many countries. In India, it is mainly cultivated in mountainous regions. 

Medicinal properties: 

1. It is a great source of antioxidants, which are beneficial for human health and helps prevent many diseases.

2. Help in reducing Obesity: Kaksa is rich in protein and iron, while the calorie content is low. As per the study, 100 grams of Kaksa, consists of only 15- 17 calories.

3. Prevent life-threatening diseases: Carotenoids such as lutein are present in spiny guards, which prove to be helpful in the prevention of many types of eye diseases, heart diseases, and even cancer.

4. Correct digestive system: Naturally, digestion becomes poor in the rainy season even for a very healthy person and then it plays an important role in improving the digestive system. Anemia can be treated naturally by regular eating these fruits and vegetables.....

Anemia is a condition in which you lack enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to your body's tissues. Having anemia can make you feel tired and weak. There are many forms of anemia, each with its own cause. Anemia can be temporary or long-term, and it can range from mild to severe.

Date: Dates contain copper, magnesium, manganese, vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), niacin, pantothenic acid, and riboflavin. This provides a protective shield. With its use, the body is able to use carbohydrates, proteins, and fats properly.

Carrot juice shown possibilities to treat even last stage cancer

To avoid a fatal disease like cancer, it is better to treat it at an earlier stage. But in most cases of cancer, it is revealed when it has progressed beyond its infancy. In such a situation, there is no other treatment for cancer other than chemotherapy and it is very painful. But you will be surprised to know that even after coming to the last stage, the treatment of cancer is possible, only by the consumption of carrot juice.

A research had been conducted at New Castle University in the UK. According to research, the polyacetylene, found in carrots helps in preventing the growth of tumors by eliminating cancer cells. Apart from this, in addition to many vitamins and minerals, beta carotene, alpha-carotene, calcium, and other nutrients are found in carrots, which are helpful in keeping the internal organs healthy. According to research, the falcarinol, falcarinol and anti-cancer elements present in carrots reduce the risk of lung cancer, breast cancer, and colon cancer. The keratinoid acid found in it is effective in inhibiting the early transformation of the causative cells of breast cancer in women.

This symptom indicates Covid-19 infection even after fully vaccinated…

The outbreak of the second wave of coronavirus is still giving fear to us, however, the majority of people are seen on the streets without making distance from people, not wearing masks and the people who have got fully vaccinated, observed not to follow any Covid protocols.    Perhaps, the public forgot that scene when patients were fighting a dangerous struggle between death and life. 

Misunderstandings are being created in the minds of the public that nothing will happen to them after vaccination. At the same time many people raising questions that even after getting the vaccine, the corona has to happen, then why is vaccination important?

Even after getting the vaccine, it is necessary to wear a mask. Because the virus is still among us. Follow Covid protocols. Keep a distance of a minimum of two yards, sanitize your hands and wear a mask properly. Stay at home. Go out only when very much necessary. Do not go to crowded places. Covid is continuously mutating. Keep a distance in the shop or public places.

Please note, the second wave is not completely over. Even today thousands of cases are being received in many states and cities. Identification of varieties of Cumins (Jeera) to get actual therapeutic values without adulteration...

Cumin seeds play an important role in spices categories as well as medicinal demands. There are many varieties of Cumins however, I will discuss with few main varieties that are still get confused due to lack of their identifications and utilized in the single name "Cumin - Jeera" but it is scientifically proved that all cumin varieties have different medicinal properties and due to lack of identification the consumers are being cheated by the traders due to single so-called name JEERA (Cumin). Mostly all the cumins can't be used for similar purposes and how do we get real Cumin that actually requires us. This is the question frequently trending in the consumer's mind.

In this article, I will try to solve your queries in a very simple manner so that you may yourself be able to identify the Cumins that you actually require. So, I am going to tell about the differences among the common cumin or white cumin (Jeera), black cumin (Kala jeera), Black cumin seeds (kalonji), shah jeera, or Persian cumin (Carum carvi), and Kali Jeeri. Yes !! I could understand that readers going to get confused with similar words but have little patience, I have a solution for you. 

Really, Once I entered the spice market, I also got confused with the similar pronouncing Cumins and I become very much curious to know when I observed that the shopkeeper themselves got very much confusion then, there is a need arise to get rid of from the entire confusion and then, I have collected sample from the different shops and taken to our lab for identifications. The result is as follows- 

Cumin (Jeera – Cuminum cyminum; Family- Apiaceae) is called common cumin and is used in every household as normal spices as you might know that cumin is not only used for tempering food but is full of many medicinal properties. Fruits are used as a condiment in curry powders and for flavoring dishes. They are considered carminative, stomachic, and astringent, useful in dyspepsia and diarrhea. Yield an essential oil used for flavoring liqueurs and cordials, also in perfumery. Besides the volatile oil, fruits contain also a fixed oil with a strong aromatic flavor.

(Jeera – Cuminum cyminum; Family- Apiaceae)

Black cumin (Bunium persicum OR Carum persicum or Kala Jeera or Caraway comes from the family Apiaceae)    which is slightly different and bitter in taste from the common cumin used in most households. It is also called Siah- jeera in Hindi. It is very helpful in reducing body weight, stomachache, toothache, removing immune disorders, antiseptic, relaxing headache, etc. Fruits are used in the spice in the same way which is imported under the common trade name Kala-jeera or Siah-jeera. The same trade name is also applied to seeds of Nigella sativa (Kalonji)  but the Cuminum cyminum, Carum carvi, Bunium persicum, and Nigella sativa, these are all scientifically different from each other and the therapeutic values also varying except one or two is observed commonly.

Black cumin seeds are scientifically known as Nigella sativa. The plant belongs to the family Ranunculaceae and is in no way related to family Umbelliferae or Apiaceae, the true family for Cumin. The seeds of Nigella sativa have a great demand in medicinal industries. Seeds are used as a carminative, stimulant, diuretic, emmenagogue, and mild cases of puerperal fever also used as a flavoring agent and externally applied in skin complaints. Seeds yield an essential oil and can positively be used in cough and bronchial asthma. They also yield edible fatty oil. Antibacterial properties of the seed extract can be used as a stabilizing agent for edible fats.

Shah jeera or Persian cumin or Carum carvi belongs to the family Umbelliferae (Apiaceae). Is also known as Wilayati jeera in various states of India. Dried fruits are widely used as spice and flavoring bread. meat sausage, vegetables. It has many medicinal properties like stomachic, carminative, flatulent colic, etc.

Kali Jeeri (also spelled as Kalijiri & Kaali Jeeri) is the seed of the plant Centratherum anthelminticum (Asteraceae; Compositae). It is commonly called Somraj in Hindi. It has great anthelmintic properties.  It is popular in combination with Ajwain and Methi for reducing weight and improving digestive health. It is used for the treatment of skin diseases in which helps to reduce itching and skin irritation. It is believed to be the blood purifier (correctly detoxifier) because it removes the toxins from the blood and increases their elimination. Kali Jeeri is an excellent Ayurvedic medicine for roundworm, tapeworm, and threadworm, which can also be present in the gut. It also increases appetite, but its bitter taste may provoke nausea in some bitter taste-sensitive people.

Cinnamon and ginger tea - warms body without cholesterol...

Have you ever heard from our grandmother to take ghee, butter cheese in the winter season and chill monsoon season to warm our body and make it naturally heat but do you know the lifestyle of people is nowadays entirely changed? Persons are working but their working style is totally changed. Minimum eight hours working is performed on sitting chair and thus mentally the performance is good but what we did the welfare for other parts of our body. Some people, no doubt going to the gym, doing some exercises regularly but is it sufficient for getting energy for full days? Some people will surely say Yes but many more say No. Why such an answer?  Because it is confirmed that burning fat in our body requires hard physical work minimum of six hours a day and thus the deposition of cholesterol will no more in the body and the same be utilized by the body as fuel.

But. it is often seen, the new-gen people sitting on a chair and performing work till late at night. Some of them working more than 12 hours a day. Students, who are preparing for Civil Services, JEE, NEET, etc also doing hard sitting work and this work may give good career and exercises to your brain but other parts of the body is not so active as actually require in routine life. Many more people stay at home due to the COVID pandemic and have no physical activities. 

What can be done then?

Yes! I have a good solution for you but it will work more effectively if you do exercises as usually, you are doing in your regular life. This remedy will give you good results if you don't do exercise but surely it will take more time to show its results.

Let us tell you about what is it?  Don't surprise every house kitchen is found filled with the main two ingredients that are the fresh Ginger (Adrak) and Cinamon bark (Dalchini).

You have to take a minimum of two cups of tea including these ingredients that's all.

Now I would like to tell you methods of how to prepare and take a healthy and cholesterol-reducing tea.

Ingredients - Ginger, cinnamon, honey, or jaggery, or sugar

Method - First of all, take 2 cups of water, add a 01-inch piece of crushed ginger and one piece of one-inch crushed cinnamon, and boil it for 6 to 8 minutes.  Filter it in a cup, add one spoon of honey and drink it hot. OPTION if you wish to add milk then one cup of water and one cup of milk you have to take for boiling. and then add sugar or jaggery as per taste but NO HONEY in milk added tea. 

 Benefits of cinnamon and ginger tea

Cinnamon and ginger tea act as a detoxifier. Along with improving digestion, ginger helps in relieving hypertension. The anti-bacterial element present in it stimulates the saliva and helps in removing the acid present in the stomach.

BLACK CUMIN AND HEALTH BENEFIT.....

Cumin (Jeera – Cuminum cyminum; Family- Apiaceae) is used in every household, but you might not know that cumin is not only used for tempering food, but small cumin is full of many medicinal properties. But I am not going to discuss the common cumin as said above, but it is black cumin (Bunium persicum or Kala Jeera or Caraway comes from the family Apiaceae)    which is slightly different and bitter in taste from the common cumin used in most households.

1. Effective in reducing weight - If black cumin is consumed continuously for 3 months, then it helps in reducing unnecessary fat stored in the body. Black cumin dissolves the fat and removes it from the body through waste materials (feces and urine).

Infertility increases in woman - may be the following main reasons....

Infertility is becoming a serious problem among women. In such a situation, due to lack of fertility, couples have to face difficulties in conceiving. According to experts, there can be many reasons for infertility in women, such as ovulation disorders, damage to the fallopian tubes, endometriosis, and problems related to the uterus or cervix, etc. Experts say that if the symptoms are detected and treated on time, then infertility can be cured. Let us know, according to the doctor, about some of the symptoms that can indicate infertility.

Endometriosis- Endometriosis is a problem in which a tissue found inside the uterus grows and spreads outside the uterus. This tissue can spread to the outer parts of the ovaries, fallopian tubes or uterus, and to other parts. In this condition, some women have less pain than normal during periods or not at all, while there are many women who have to face a lot of pain and cramps during periods. Apart from this, the duration of their periods lasts for a long time.

Ovulation irregularities can be caused by a number of factors including polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), obesity, being underweight, and thyroid problems.


Hormonal problems- Due to fluctuations in hormones, many types

of symptoms start appearing in the body. These include acne, cold

hands and feet decreased sex drive, decreased sexual desire, nipple

discharge, increased facial hair, thinning of head hair, weight gain,

can affect woman's fertility. Infections, endometriosis, and fibroids

Other problems- PCOS, premature menopause, cancer, cancer treatments, damage to the ovaries or fallopian tubes, endometriosis, etc. can cause infertility.

Tests such as hysterosalpingography, endometrial biopsy, laparoscopy, hormone checkups can determine the cause of infertility. After this, the appropriate treatment options can be chosen. These include surgery due to blockage in fallopian tubes or ovarian cysts, IVF (in-vitro fertilization), intrauterine insemination, ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection), egg donation, GIFT (gamete intrafallopian tube transfer), and ZIFT (zygote intrafallopian transfer).

According to experts, a healthy lifestyle can reduce the problem of infertility to a great extent. Consuming a limited amount of caffeine, avoiding alcohol and smoking, maintaining body weight, and reducing stress can help to a great extent.
