Deltacron, a new corona variant entered in the world; It kills like Delta and spread like Omicron – A serious issue, world to face….

It has come to the information that another new corona strain has knocked in the midst of the coming corona Tsunami due to the new variant Omicron in the world. Scientists in Cyprus claim that a new strain of coronavirus consisting of Delta and Omicron variants has been found in their country. Due to Omicron, record cases of corona have been registered in the world in the first week of January. In such a situation, another new strain has increased the tension of the world regarding Corona.

What is 'Deltacron' and who discovered it? A new strain of coronavirus has been found, about which researchers claim that it has symptoms of both Delta and Omicron variants. Researchers from the University of Cyprus have named it 'Deltacron'. The new strain of corona, Deltacron, has been discovered by a team led by Leondios Kostrikis, Head of the Laboratory of Biotechnology and Molecular Virology at the University of Cyprus and Professor of Biological Sciences. Regarding the new strain Deltachron, Professor Kostrikis said, "It is a co-infection of Omicron and Delta and the strain we found has a combination of both. This discovery is named Deltacron because a genetic character like Omicron has been found inside the Delta genome.

According to researchers, a new strain of corona Deltacron has been found in 25 people in Cyprus so far. According to Professor Kostrikis, out of 25 people in Cyprus in whom the new strain was found, 11 people were admitted to the hospital after being corona positive. At the same time, the remaining 14 people were such that they were Covid positive, but were not admitted to the hospital. That is, the risk of infection from this new corona strain is higher for those admitted to the hospital.

What is the danger of the Deltacron strain? A new strain of corona, Deltacron, has been found at a time when corona cases are increasing very rapidly around the world due to Omicron. At such a time, a new corona strain is definitely like a new disaster. However, studies regarding this new strain are still in the early stages. Cyprus has sent 25 samples in which DeltaCron was found on 7 January itself, to GISAID for examination. GISAID is an international database tracking changes in influenza and coronavirus. Professor Kostrikis from Cyprus has said about the threat from Deltacron that we will know in the future whether this strain is more disease-causing, more contagious, or will it be more effective than Delta and Omicron?

The World Health Organization monitors each new variant of the coronavirus and categorizes it according to its severity. For example, Delta and Omicron have been declared 'Variants of Concern' by the WHO, that is, both these variants are in the worrying category. The WHO has not said anything yet on the Deltacron found in Cyprus. That is, an official statement from the World Health Organization is yet to come about what the Cyprus researchers are calling the Deltacron strain.

Cypriot expert and Virologist Tom Peacock of Imperial College London has said that Deltacron is a "technical mistake in the lab", not a new strain. He said that Omicron has not yet spread to such a large population that it can actually combine with another variant to form a new variant. He said that it has been only a few weeks for Omicron to spread, so it is unlikely that it will be able to combine any other variant and create a new variant. However, the claim of being a 'lab error' has been dismissed by Professor Kostrikis from Cyprus. He said that the genome sequencing of Deltacron samples has been carried out in more than one country and at least one sequence from Israel submitted to the global database showed Deltacron's genetic properties, he said.
